Performance Considerations

GT utilises the Graphics Card (GPU) for all rendering and effects.

Modern graphics cards can render complex templates up to 4K in GT with only minimal impact on the system, but even so the GPU is not a limitless resource.

In particular, the number of Layers should be kept to a minimum where possible. Unused layers should be deleted to reduce memory usage.

An average HD template may consume between 100-200MB of graphics memory.

On a graphics card with 6GB of onboard memory this equates to up to 60 templates open at the same time in vMix, not including memory usage of vMix itself (which can be quite substantial).

Therefore it is recommended no more than 20 templates be opened in a vMix preset at once, of you can use a GPU monitoring utility such as GPU-Z to keep an eye on memory consumption.

Integrated Graphics

GT will work on a system with only Integrated Graphics, but the quality of objects within a template may be reduced, particularly those that require anti-aliasing.

A maximum of two animated templates should be opened at a time in vMix. Using more than two static templates will generally work ok.
